When Is A Heavy-Duty Acrylic Divider Sneeze Guard Required At Checkout?

This item is a commercial grade acrylic panel sneeze guard that can be used on a checkout counter or on almost any flat surface. 

How Far Above A Counter Should Sneeze Guards Be Placed? 

The height above the finished floor of a checkout counter sneeze guard should be tall enough to adequately create a physical separation or divider between the store employee and the customer. The average customer height is between 5 feet and 6 feet tall. Most ADA compliant checkout counters are approximately 38 inches tall. Other table heights used generally vary from 30 inches to 42 inches tall. A sneeze guard mounted to a checkout counter should be at least 34 inches tall to effectively create a barrier. We suggest a minimum of a 36 inch tall guard. Check with your local health department sneeze guard requirements for additional information. 

What Type Of Material Is Best For Sneeze Guards? 

The best material for sneeze guards is washable and clear. Sneeze guard materials include plastic, tempered glass or acrylic. For portable sneeze guards, acrylic and other approved plastic materials are recommended to keep weight down. This item is constructed out of solid acrylic and is for sale as a 4-pack. Each sneeze guard includes a 1/8 inch thick solid acrylic panel with a notch that is large enough to pass a typical 12-pack through it for checkout. The panel measures 32 inches wide by 36 inches tall. The pass-through holes measure 12 inches high by 20 inches wide. Each unit includes two acrylic bases that attach to the plastic panel with no tools required. The sneeze guards can be placed on a countertop or tabletop. Simple to clean - use a soft cloth and soapy water only. Do not use scouring compounds or chemical glass cleaners as they may harm surface.
